B8 just won the tensest map of the whole Major so far and it happened in Stage 1, in a studio, before a single favorite has fired a shot. Twenty-two to twenty on Inferno, the kind of map that takes a year off your life. They came in needing to prove they still belong at this level and answered it in the ugliest, most convincing way there is.

Through at 3-0 with M80 left to pick up the pieces. This is the version of B8 people stopped expecting.

On site for Stage 1 and it is a strange, quiet kind of pressure. No arena, no anthem, half the famous names still in their hotels waiting for next week. Just sixteen teams in a studio fighting for the right to matter at all.

SINNERS are out, and beastik sat down after the 0-2 to TYLOO and said he would almost rather not have qualified than go out like that. You could feel that one in the room. The grind down here is the most honest part of the whole Major, and the most brutal.

BetBoom are flying, and they are doing it without a stand-in. Boombl4's numbers looked rough coming in and he just led from the front anyway, a daft nine-nine-nine line as they put thirteen-two on GamerLegion on Nuke. Magnojez dovetailing with FL4MUS on Ancient is the part that should frighten people.

Three and oh, not a map dropped, no fuss. Whoever draws them in Stage 2 inherits a problem.

I keep waiting for MIBR to look like a team and Stage 1 keeps telling me to be patient. They have been beatable all week, THUNDER dOWNUNDER already caught them once, and now everything hangs on a Lynn Vision game that is nowhere near as comfortable as it reads on paper.

malbsMd is doing everything one man can do. For once I would like the rest of that server to meet him halfway.

Spare a thought for Gaimin Gladiators, who just exited with the lowest round win rate any team has ever posted in Major Swiss play. HEROIC barely had to break stride to send them home, which somehow makes it worse.

There is no soft landing in Stage 1. You find a level fast, or you become the stat people quote for years.
